Uwem read law in the University of Uyo, Nigeria, graduating with 2nd Class Upper Division in 2018. Upon conclusion of his vocational training from the Nigerian Law School, Kano Campus, in 2019 he was formally admitted to practice law in Nigeria, as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, in November 2019.

Uwem has a sterling litigation and transaction background, having practiced with some of the more renowned, market-leading corporate commercial law firms in Nigeria before joining Star Attorneys as Associate, just after Christmas of 2020.

Starting his pupilage with the award-winning commercial law firm of Akinseye George SAN and; Co, Abuja, in 2018, Uwem eventually joined the Legal Department of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from November 2019 to November 2020, and there, worked closely with Abdulrashhed Bawa, the current Chairman of EFCC, in several epoch-making and precedent-setting public interest Financial Crime matters instituted across several States, and Federal jurisdictions in Nigeria.

Uwem’s forensic skills as an advocate in notable litigations before superior Courts in Nigeria, at both trial and appellate levels, has established his reputation, with clients and professional colleagues alike, as a formidable, a well-rounded, consummate and highly skilled litigator. His aboriginal understanding of the Nigerian marketplace and business environment is a significant selling point for STAR ATTORNEYS especially with clients seeking to do business in Nigeria.

On account of his knowledge in Financial Crimes and experience, including adept use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to resolve disputes, Uwem’s in-depth knowledge, hands-on approach and a cognitive ability to deftly identify, deconstruct and isolate critical issues from an intricate web of facts, significantly contributes to STAR ATTORNEYS growing reputation in the industry for expeditiously and satisfactorily resolving contentious commercial disputes for its clients.

Since joining STAR ATTORNEYS, Uwem has been routinely briefed to work with leading corporations and he is constantly providing transaction advisory to high networth clients, both locally and nationally, on several niche areas of law including Taxation, Banking, Oil and Gas, Structured Finance, Private Equity, Corporate Governance, Due Diligence, Employment and Labor.

In his spare moments, Uwem finds time to write political and social commentaries. He is an avid reader of non-legal literary works, mostly satirical classics and biographies, and listen to Country Music.
